Dr. Sanja Petricic has performed her first piano concerto with the orchestra at the age eleven. Her musical journey started when she was seven years old attending the music school for gifted children in ex-Yugoslavia. She started winning national and international competitions at very young age and was invited to participate in several radio and TV talk shows.

During the war in the 90’s her family moved to United Sates where she continued her education at Oberlin Conservatory and The Juilliard School in New York. As a soloist and chamber musician she has performed in United Sates, France, Italy, Finland, Greece, and Serbia including some of the prestigious concert halls as Salle Gavotte in Paris, Alice Tully Hall in New York, and Kolarac Hall in Belgrade.

While studying at The Juilliard School, Dr. Petricic got interested in multimedia performances which led her to become the art manager and performer of the classical music storytelling concerts "Diary of Mr. Rajic” and “Music love story” being performed in New York and Lake Taho festival in California. Along with her colleagues she created an international association of chamber music exchange called “Libera Musica” that included musicians from US, Russia, Izrael, Poland, Italy, Greece, and Serbia.

In 2006 she decided to take another path on her career.

In 2006 Dr. Petricic suffered from a back injury that prevented her to continue her career as a performer therefore she decided to take another path and become professor of arts management and leadership at Faculty for Media and communication in Belgrade.

However, her passion for music, live performance and arts collaboration was still part of her life so she decided to combine her experience and knowledge to create audience-development project called “Meet the composers” that took place in numerous performance venues for the next 12 years in collaboration with students, artists, local theaters, and cultural centers in Belgarde.

Reflecting on her experience as a performer, arts manager, mentor, and teacher

she decided to continue her career in academic research and finish her doctoral studies in the field of arts management and leadership. Her doctoral research led her back to New York where she worked with members of New York Philharmonic and The Juilliard School. Upon receiving her PhD degree, she was invited to present her research at conferences in Belgium, Finland, Austria, Poland, Spain, Italy and be the guest teacher at arts management departments in Czech Republic, Greece, Serbia, and US.

Current position

Dr. Petricic is currently an adjunct professor for PALM program at Shenandoah Conservatory in Virginia, USA, and co-founder of summer study abroad program for Arts Leadership Athens in Greece where she lives with her family.
